Privacy policy

Home Buying Steps is built on data minimisation: we collect the least we can and never any financial information. This policy explains what we hold and why, under UK GDPR.

What we collect

  • Your email address — to sign you in (magic link) and, only if you opt in, to send stage-nudge reminders. Lawful basis: contract (providing the service).
  • Your journey details — country, property type, chain status, optional target date, stage progress and private notes. Lawful basis: contract.
  • Service interactions — which guidance/services you tap, at which stage, so we can improve recommendations. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
  • Product analytics — how the site is used, so we can improve it. We use two tools: a privacy-light product analytics tool that runs without cookies, and Google Analytics 4. We do not sell data, ever.

Cookies & consent

The site sets no analytics cookies until you agree. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies, and the site works fully either way. If you decline (or haven’t chosen yet), Google Analytics runs in a cookieless mode that stores nothing on your device.

If you accept, Google Analytics 4 sets its own cookies (for example _ga) to measure visits and returning users. Your choice is remembered in a small first-party cookie. To change it, clear your cookies for this site and the banner will appear again. Essential cookies needed to sign in and keep you logged in are always set, as they’re required for the service to work.

What we never collect

  • No income, affordability, credit or deposit details.
  • No passwords — sign-in is by emailed link.
  • No data about other people in your purchase.

Your data is yours alone

Every record is scoped to your account and protected by database row-level security — no other user can read or change your data. Data is stored with our processors (Supabase, Vercel) under UK GDPR-compliant terms.

Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
